Beautiful course, you have to play the water, bunkers and the sea breeze. I saw a lot of beautiful animals and birds including a lizard and one alligator.
Choose your tees wisely and you’ll have a great time. Greatly maintained course. Green fee high $200+ and good clubs rental for ~$80-100 dollars.
I play golf all over the world so this is a fair evaluation….first off, I had the first tee time and it was before the sun had come up…therefore it was basically night….no warm up even though they do have a driving range…I could see about 1.5 holes in finally…..clubhouse was not open when I got there and there were 4 groups stacked waiting to tee off all at the first tee at the same time….so it’s rather a mess in the AM….luckily everyone was cool and let me go first since I was a single…...now to the golf…..enjoyed the round once I could see and got warmed up, greens were a little beat up and slow….to be expected from resort style golf…..the rest of the course is decently maintained and had a nice layout. I played the tips so it was plenty long and the scenery was nice although all the holes kinda looked the same. I finished my round in 2 hours and was back at my place by 9:10am. The cart staff guys were really nice, and one’s in the pro shop opened they were also nice. They said late afternoon was a good time to go if you can stand the heat, less people….
*******Also*******the bugs are really really really bad, make sure you have repellent.
Was quoted a price to play which included unlimited access to practice facilities prior to round. When I arrived I was charged extra for range time which I argued was included. I was told I could simply wait outside till I was within 1 hr of my tee time and then could use driving range. When I inquired about this with the rep I originally dealt with I was simply ghosted.
Course is nice, carts are decent but rental clubs ($80 usd) were mismatched flexes, driver head was adjusted too high and no adjustment tool offered.
Overall a bust.
Fair, but honest review. The course itself was beautiful! Very tight, but if you can find the fairway, you will be good to go. Not very long (I played from the silver tees, just over 6,200 yards). That being said, there were multiple par 4's that were under 400yds or just over. So, challenging enough and very fun to play! Only one hole where you could see the ocean. Water on multiple holes presented a bit of a challenge with stiff winds.
Overall experience: They provided a transportation service to our resort, since it was only a 5 minute drive in Playa Mujeres, so that was great. No charge, just tip. But for the overall price of the course, I think it was standard for most vacation destination golf courses, but I've played nicer courses in the US for way less, with much better amenities. The driving range didn't have any stacked racks of balls, but instead 10-15 thrown in a pile on the ground - only 3 of the 10ish spots had balls there. The electric carts were nice with a touch screen that guided you throughout the course. Coolers had no ice in them, they provided a small water bottle, and a handful of tees. Simple things like the club cleaner and ball cleaners didn't have water in them... and there was no place to water down a towel. This was my first time playing out of the US, but for the price I paid I guess I was expecting the same level of service I've received at nice courses in the states. There weren't many people playing on a Thursday morning, so playing by myself solo, I was able to finish in under 3 hours after playing through 3-4 groups. The fairways, rough, traps and greens were all in great shape. Very fun play, but challenging for those who struggle to hit it off the tee straight.
Great golf course. Beautiful landscaping and fun holes. Greens were perfect in March 2023.
Your score will depend on the wind conditions for the day. Playing right off the coast means that you face significant headwinds, crosswinds, and tailwinds. Currently, the clubhouse is under construction, which is disappointing, but can’t wait to see it once completed. Playing partner rented clubs which Taylormade Stealth woods and irons. Very nice.
The most beautiful course I've ever played. On my shuttle ride back, we had a guy join us that said he's played several courses in the area, and this was by far the nicest. Every person working there was very friendly and helpful. At first I was hesitant to play because of the price (plus we all rented our clubs), but it was worth every penny.
A pretty penny and a beautiful golf course! Bring your own clubs, glove and golf balls - pro shop is pricey! We were greeted and shown around before our tee time. It was slow so we were in no rush! Golf rentals are 65 USD, the ride along was about the same price. Front 9 is in the jungle, back 9 with more water features. Lots of sand pits, the course is beautifully maintained. The clubhouse sandwich was very good and came with fresh fries! Drinks are about $5 a pop. Would def come again!
